A little something about Jim
Hi, I’m Jim — a former healthcare worker who took a sharp left turn during the COVID‑19 lockdown and landed squarely in the world of woodworking. What started as a way to stay sane during those strange, quiet months quickly turned into a full‑blown passion. The more time I spent with wood, the more I fell in love with its quirks: the grain patterns that feel like fingerprints, the way different species respond to tools and finishes, and the endless techniques that turn a simple board into something extraordinary.
In 2021, I brought home a GlowForge, and that opened an entirely new creative chapter. Suddenly I was etching intricate designs into boxes, experimenting with laser textures, and diving into the deep end of 3D relief work. It was like discovering a whole new language for storytelling through wood.
Not long after, a friend asked if I could make a humidor as a gift. At first, it felt like a pretty big leap — humidity control, Spanish cedar, precision joinery — but after some research (and a little trial and error), I realized a humidor is really just a very fancy box with a few special tricks. The finished piece turned out beautifully, and now humidors sit proudly alongside my cutting boards, jewelry boxes, and watch cases in my product lineup.
Today, you can find my work at local farmers markets, maker’s markets, and artisan fairs — places where people can pick up a box, run their hands over the grain, and feel the care that went into every cut, carve, and engraving.
